Susan Kramer, Heathrow and the cup cakes
A little while ago I expressed some concern about Susan Kramer MP‘s plans to attend a particular London event. To add a bit of balance I am reporting on a different event that she has attended. One that I heartily approve of.
Last week we heard that Susan had stood down from the Shadow Cabinet to “take up a new role leading the party’s campaign against the expansion of Heathrow Airport”. Not a moment too soon it seems given yesterday’s announcement.
Well, it also seems that she means business. On Monday the MP for Richmond Park was amongst a large group of people who took part in a “picnic” protest in Heathrow’s Terminal 1. Part of a programme of direct action organised by Climate Rush.
You can get a good flavour of this event from the BBC video.
It sounds like she had fun too!
“We are having an absolutely brilliant time. It’s been a wonderful colourful protest. It’s been entirely peaceful. There’s been a conga line, a group playing Edwardian music, another group playing alternative music, there have been cup cakes. It’s been almost a celebration.”
