Our Daily Mail voters?

A conversation in the pub on Monday and the article Vince Cable goes solo after Daily Mail fanbase from Times Online, made my wonder how many readers of the Daily Mail actually vote Liberal Democrat.

The only real stats I could find after a bit of Googling where from Ipsos Mori for the 1st Quarter of 2005 which says that 14% of Daily Mail readers who are certain to vote support the Lib Dems.

Given the opprobrium that we Lib Dems, rightly, heap on the Mail, 14% seems rather large to me. Which begs the question; is it possible to develop a Liberal Democrat strategy to target Daily Mail readers? And, if so, how?

After all, it would an attack deep in the heart of the enemy!
